Apartment Security Checklist Choosing an apartment to live in while attending school is an important decision. In fact, it may be one of the most important decisions you will make. Unfortunately, you may not always know what questions to ask as you begin your search for just the right rental property. The Washington University Police Department developed this guide to help you evaluate rental prospects as you walk through a residence with your prospective landlord. We've tried to target a few features of a residence that we think are critical to providing a safe enviroment and that you should ask about while inspecting a possible new home. "Yes" answers to all these questions won't guarantee a totally worry-free setting, but they could help reduce the potential for you to be the target of a burglary or other problem posed in some rental properties. It is also important to note that although we think each of these items is important for safety, not all are required by law. To download the apartment security checklist, click here.
