Escort Shuttle Service
Purpose and Mission
The Escort Shuttle System was initiated by Washington University Parking & Transportation Services in the fall of 1979. The program is operated on an academic year basis. Washington University's Parking and Transportation Services' mission is to facilitate campus access to faculty, staff, students, and the community for University business and activities. The department's goal is to serve the University community with fairness, courtesy, consistency, and efficiency. The mission of the Escort Shuttle Service is to assist members of the University community by transporting them to their destinations in a safe and reliable manner. To be effective in this role, the community must have complete confidence in the Escort Shuttle System. To gain that confidence, the program must be reliable, efficient, and disciplined organizations and be perceived as such by the community they serve. Employees serve as highly visible examples of efficiency, courteousness, and self-discipline to the community. To this end, members shall be held to a high standard of conduct.
Medical Escort Service
The Medical Escort is provided to meet the special transportation needs of students and others in the University community with a disability or medical condition requiring a more specialized service. Pre-authorization from University Health Services (935-6666) is required to utilize this service. Passengers must call the dispatch center at 935-4140 to request a trip. Services are operated on a first-come, first-served basis. We will attempt to serve all passengers requesting service in a timely manner. The dispatcher will always provide an estimated time for arrival for the van when the trip is requested. The Medical Escort operates only during the academic session, Monday–Friday: First trip is at 8:30 a.m. The last request for service is taken at 5:20 p.m.
Danforth Circulator
