​At approximately 11:15 p.m., WUPD officers and the University City Police responded to the 6300 block of McPherson in regards to an attempted armed robbery. A Washington University faculty member and his wife reported that they were walking on McPherson when a male subject walked past them, suddenly turned around and displayed a handgun. The subject demanded property from the victims. When the victims informed the subject they had no valuables, the subject ran from the area. No injuries were reported.

The University City Police Department is investigating.
