About Me
I started at WUPD in June of 2023 and have been overwhelmed by the hospitality and welcoming of the WashU community. Prior to joining WUPD I spent 22 years at the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and retired from law enforcement as a Police Captain. I’ve spent the last two years in the safety and security industry. I received my Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and a Master of Arts in Management and Leadership from Webster University. I am a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum’s (PERF) Senior Management Institute for Police and the Gateway FBI-LEEDA program.
How did you decide on your career?
I had several friends that entered law enforcement and had an opportunity to do a ride along and it changed my outlook on my career and saw an opportunity to make a positive impact in the community. Now after working in the private sector an opportunity came open at WUPD that presents new opportunities and to be part of a community that’s continually improving and striving for excellence.
What was your favorite subject in school?
Math was probably my favorite subject in school and I’ve continued using math skills in several assignments and jobs throughout my career.
What is your favorite thing about WashU?
The sense of community and the willingness to help and grow. The drive to advance others is inspiring and having the ability to make a positive and lasting impact is an exciting opportunity.
What police service would you want everyone to know about?
The drive to engage the WashU community. Each of our officers are driven to provide the best service possible. WUPD wants to partner with all students, staff and faculty in events and opportunities to learning from one another and grow as a community.
What are you looking forward to the most for the 2024-2025 school year?
I am looking forward to this school year and the opportunity to continue to build positive relationships with our WashU community stakeholders and promote an environment of open communication. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work in conjunction with our WashU community partners working collaboratively to develop prevention strategies that support those partnerships and strategies that proactively address safety and security issues.
