WUPD has learned that (3) vehicles were broken into this evening in the University City Delmar Loop area. Further details are below. Please immediately take the precautions listed below.

The first vehicle was broken into in the 6300 block of Cates. It is believed the incident took place sometime between 6pm and 8:00pm. It did not appear that anything was taken.

The second vehicle was broken into in the 600 block of Westgate. It is believed the break-in occurred sometime between 7:00pm and 7:30pm. In this instance, personal items were reportedly stolen.

The third vehicle was broken into while it was parked in a parking garage in the 6300 block of Delmar. It is believed that the break-in occurred sometime between 7:00pm and 7:45pm. It did not appear that anything was taken.

The University City Police Department is investigating all three incidents. WUPD will be conducting increased patrols in the area.

WUPD has issued several security memos in the past month related to car thefts and break-ins. Local police municipalities have recently reported an increase in motor vehicle break-ins across the St. Louis region.

Report suspicious persons or activity immediately to Police at 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency telephone.
• If you hear a vehicle alarm, contact Police immediately.
• Do not leave expensive property such as laptops, CD’s, purses, radar detectors, cellular telephones and portable stereos in plain view in your vehicle. Lock them in your trunk or take them with you.
• Park in a well-lit area or as close to a light as possible.
