Lost and Found


The Washington University Police Department provides a lost and found service for high value items and forms of identification found on the Danforth Campus. ​​
​L​​ocated at the WUPD, first floor of Lien Residential Hall on the South 40. ​
Item pick-up is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday  7 a.m. to 2 p.m. or by special arrangement.   Items are held 45 days.​

Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to register serialized property for ease of identification in the event the item is ever lost or stolen.

Found Items

The following found items are accepted:

  • Cell Phones
  • Laptops
  • Wallets/Purses
  • Jewelry
  • Eyeglasses
  • Textbooks
  • Forms of identification
  • Scientific calculators
  • Backpacks/bags that contain the above accepted items
The following found items are NOT accepted:

  • Clothing items
  • Loose earbuds
  • Water bottles
  • Perishable items/food/food containers
  • Flammable items (lighters, vape pens, etc.)
  • Loose charging cables
  • Small recreational items (Soccer balls, frisbees, baseballs, etc.)
  • Personal grooming items (combs, brushes, bows, ribbons, scrunchies, etc.)
  • Intentionally abandoned items (electronic equipment that obviously does not work, damaged furniture, items placed by trash containers, etc.)
  • Umbrellas
  • Notebooks, binders, folders, papers

Please deliver acceptable found items to the Police Department or forward them to Campus Mail Box 1038. Anyone claiming property must show a student ID or a driver’s license.

Found Items List & Lost Item Entry

Search our list of found items by specific Item type or choose all Item types.  Items are updated and added daily. Once you have checked the list and verified that your item has not already been turned in you can click on the link at the top of the list to add your item to the lost item database.  Note:  If you feel your property was stolen as opposed to lost please contact the Police to file a report.  If you lost your WUSTL ID, please call or visit us to deactivate your card.
