Gregg House
Overview Precautions

Specifics

On Thursday morning, WUPD officers responded to Gregg House to assist a staff member. The staff member reported that they saw a person inside Gregg House whom they did not recognize as a resident. WUPD determined that the person had entered Gregg House by “tailgating” in through a door while students were exiting the building. When the staff member asked the person if they needed help, the person became very argumentative. WUPD determined that the person exited Gregg House and immediately left campus.

It is believed that the same person was inside Gregg House 1st floor common room on Wednesday, March 10th. WUPD officers were able to locate and identify this person and issue him a Trespass Warning because he was not affiliated with the University nor a guest of a community member.

ResLife notified the residents of Gregg House about this incident.

Just after midnight last night, the same person was located on the South40. WUPD officers made contact with this person and escorted him off campus.

At approximately 10:00 this morning, the person was again observed entering the Danforth Campus. WUPD officers located the person in the DUC and placed him under arrest for trespassing. He was escorted to a nearby patrol vehicle and driven to the WUPD station. While as the station, the person indicated that he was treated at a local hospital last evening for an undisclosed injury and requested additional medical treatment. Clayton Paramedics were immediately dispatched and transported the person, who was conscious and alert, to a local hospital for additional treatment.

Precautions

Be alert to your surroundings.
Do not let people you do not know into the building as you enter or leave the building. Inform them that they are required to swipe in to access the building.
Do not prop open doors. If you see a propped door, please close it.
Report any door or window mechanical issues that may prevent the door from being fully secured.
If you see someone who you do not know inside the residence hall behaving suspiciously, do not confront them. Instead call WUPD immediately at 314-935-5555.

The Delmar Metro Station is currently closed as local police are investigating an incident.

UPDATED INFORMATION

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) is investigating this morning’s incident at the Delmar Metro Station. We now know that a person who was shot in the incident has died.

UPDATED INFORMATION - Tuesday 02-02-2021

St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department have taken a person into custody in conjunction with the shooting that took place Sunday morning at the Delmar Metro Station.

The person remains in custody at this time while St. Louis Metropolitan Police continues their investigation.

Suspect

SLMPD is looking for a person involved in the shooting, described as a Black male with shaggy hair and facial hair, both with grey streaks. The person was wearing a black stocking cap with orange letters, a black hoodie with orange letters, and a dark neck gator. The person fled the area carrying a black laptop case. No direction of travel was given.

Specifics

Person Armed with a gun
At approximately 3:50 PM this afternoon, in the 6000 block of Waterman 2 WashU students reported 3 male subjects and 2 female subjects for knocking on their apartment door. One of the male subjects was armed with an assault rifle. The students called 911. A witness reported seeing all 5 subjects get into a blue sedan and leave the area. Subjects were gone upon arrival of WashU PD and St. Louis City PD officers.

• Never prop open exterior doors or gates. If you see a door propped, close it.

• Don’t allow people you do not know to “tailgate” behind you into the building.

• When someone knocks at your door, don’t open it unless you know your visitor.

• If the person is a maintenance person, ask that identification be slipped under the door or through the mail slot. Call the employer to verify that maintenance work was scheduled to be performed. Refuse to deal with anyone who won’t comply with this request.

• If you arrive home to find your door ajar, hear unusual sounds or believe your apartment has been broken into, DON’T GO IN! Go to a telephone and call the Police.

• When you are away from your residence, leave your interior lights on.

A student recently reported to WUPD that last week, she awoke in the middle of the night and discovered an unknown person inside her bedroom. When she confronted the person, he left the apartment and was last seen walking away.

A student reported that at approximately 10:30am, a person entered their apartment building in the 6600 block of Kingsbury Blvd, near Melville Ave. While inside the building, the person entered several apartments, taking 3 wallets before leaving the building.

At approximately 12:40 am, a graduate student reported that he parked his car in the 800 block of Leeland Ave, near Vernon Ave. The student exited his vehicle and was approached by three subjects. One subject displayed a handgun while demanding his belongs. A second subject grabbed the student’s keys and then struck the student in the mouth. When the subject resisted, all three subjects ran off, dropping the student’s car keys.

Minor injuries were reported.

Specifics

At approximately 12:27 a.m., a Washington University student reported that he parked his car in a private driveway near the 600 block of Westgate Ave. The student was accompanied by a female roommate, not affiliated with the university. The student said that when he and his roommate exited his vehicle, they were approached by two male subjects wearing "Ski-masks". One of the subjects displayed a hand gun and demanded the student and his roommate's property. The student gave the subjects his car keys. The subjects got in the student's vehicle which contained the student's wallet. the two subjects then drove off in the student’s vehicle, last seen heading west on Delmar Ave.

No injuries were reported.

Synopsis

Several local police municipalities adjacent to the Danforth Campus have reported an increase in vehicle break-ins. In several of the vehicle break-ins, items of value were taken.

• If you hear a vehicle alarm, contact Police immediately.
• Do not leave expensive property such as laptops, CD’s, purses, radar detectors, cellular telephones and portable

Specifics

At 7:30 pm, a silver car pulled up to the intersection of Cabanne Ave. and Eastgate Ave, near Eastgate Park. An occupant of the silver car then began shooting at another car parked in the area. The silver car then drove off in an unknown direction.
2 people sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Specifics

At approximately 7:40 pm, a student reported that she parked her car behind her apartment in the 700 block of Heman Ave. The student said that while seated in her car, a female subject approached and asked to use the student’s phone. When the student denied the subject’s request, the female subject struck the student in the face one time. At this point a male subject approached and he and the female subject removed the student from her car. The female subject and the male subject got in the student’s car. A short time later two additional male subjects also got into the vehicle. All four subjects then drove off in the student’s vehicle, last seen heading south on Heman Ave.

No weapons were used.

Minor injuries were reported.
